Rolled Oats – beta glucan fiber in oats provides longer lasting energy balancing blood sugar spikes

Sunflower Seed Butter – healthy fat that is a good source of protein to provide fuel for the muscle and other organs within the body. It is a great source of magnesium (regulates muscle and nerve function, blood sugar levels and blood pressure) and vitamin E, which is a potent antioxidant that is also helpful in keeping your skin healthy.

Honey – contains anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and antioxidant properties to help with managing inflammation.

Cinnamon – antioxidant containing spice that has been proven in research to aid in balancing blood sugar levels to keep energy from dipping too low. It also can provide a somewhat sweet taste without adding more sugar.

Ground Flaxseed – good source of ALA omega healthy fats, fiber, and protein that has been shown in research to help reduce elevated cholesterol levels to maximize heart health.

Golden Raisins – good source of potassium and fiber to aid in electrolyte balance and fuel gut health. Contains resveratrol which has been shown in studies to help with keeping energy levels up and contribute to metabolism efficiency. They also contain potassium, vitamin B6 and manganese which all contribute to energy production within the body.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sunflower seed butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp ground flaxseed meal
  • 1/4 cup golden raisins

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add sunflower seed butter, honey, cinnamon, rolled oats, flaxseed meal, and golden raisins. Mix until well combined. If too dry/crumbly, add more seed butter or honey.. If too sticky or wet, add a little bit more oats or flaxseed meal.
  2. Spread mixture evenly in a 9x13 inch baking pan, cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  3. Once chilled, remove from the refrigerator and cut into bite sized pieces (1 inch squares). This recipe makes anywhere from 15-20 pieces depending on size of bites.
